Who Am I?
Who am I?
Hi my name is Dan and I put up this site because I was listening to the radio yesterday and they (Pundits, Talking Heads

Still on the Job-I am smiling! Geeze
etc.), were talking about the “99ers” and how their 99 weeks of benefits were about to run out and whether or not Congress was to go ahead and approve more unemployment compensation.
As for myself, I’m actually not unemployed—I’m self-employed as an owner/operator truck driver, which gives me a lot of time to follow current events, listen to the radio, and so on so forth (while I’m driving). While I can’t actually get fired, I have suffered considerably. I don’t currently have anywhere near the same kind of revenue I was generating before this recession hit. Additionally, while I can’t get fired, I also can’t get unemployment compensation because I’m self-employed. So whatever remedy I come up with is something I had to come up with by my own means and effort.
Because I’ve had less work I’ve had more spare time to try to look for solutions to help solve my own problems. I’ve turned to the online world and have begun to learn how to put up websites just like this.
The “idea”—and I hope it’s a good one—was to share some of the resources I’ve found useful myself. These include a lot of how-to courses and practical tools that I’ve been using for some time now, and that have remarkably allowed me to set-up site like this in less than 24 hours.
Keep in mind that my primary activity is truck driving.
It was only a couple years ago when I realized I wasn’t getting information from school teachers and coaches about my son. Why?- Because they were using email to disseminate that information. And that’s when it hit me; the technological world had passed me by. I will turn 50 years old this year, and sometime ago I used to think I was pretty much on the cusp or cutting edge of technology. Denial is a bitch.
I tell you this because I was totally ill-equipped to do any activity like this until I applied myself to the task at hand. I slowly began to unravel the technological mystery that is the Internet and I ultimately located the various tools and techniques that would allow me to participate.
My point is that if I can do it. Anybody can, and that includes you!
Mind you, I didn’t say it would be easy. It’s been a struggle for me, but it’s doable, and maybe this will be a solution for you. I hope it is.
The other idea for the impetus on this website was to allow for others to share information and come up with ideas to solve various unemployment issues. I have no idea what direction that will take. That’s why this is a blog format, and I hope all of you will take the ball and run with it.
I hope you come back often, I hope you find a job or a new business. I hope whatever you find to be even more satisfying and useful and more nourishing to your life than whatever you were doing before.
Best wishes and good luck
Dan

In order to understand our government, we must consider the powers that be. Being a 99er, I believed that President Obama would hold true to his promise. Having seen jobs being outsourced by corporate America downsizing, greed and complasive politicians. It makes me often wonder; Give Me Liberty OR Give Me Death!!!!!
My fellow 99er’s our Government has given us DEATH! As we all know our government has formally delivered propaganda of the American dream. But the 99er’s are the forsaken. Nevertheless, Our Government commanded the 99er’s to march forward into despair because there are no jobs for us to bear.
In other words by excluding the 99er’s from this bill. We are forced to leave behind the loves ones we once cherished, because as a man you feel that you can no longer support their hearts.
“A man without a Job” is like he does not exist!! And without this extension the 99er’s will not exist!!! But let me say this! The way congress thinks today. Is let’s roll the dice!!! They are not important; Now that they are in office.
The Banks and Wall Street are doing business as usual. High interest rates and foreclosure’s for the month of June 2010 was 1.5 million!! I’m a true believer in GOD. But I often pray and wonder about my future in America today, the land of equality freedom and liberty.
Again, Mr. President, Congress, Senator’s. You give the 99er’s an executive order. As forgotten bewildered and broken soldiers. We command congress to an extension to liberty justice in the name of survival!!
Rescue the 99er’s from the dephts of despair, suicide, homeless and wondering aimlessly in a barren jobless land. For it is your duty as men not leaders to obey and command your OATH! To protect serve your fellow citizen’s without discrimination or malice.
I hereby command all 99er’s to converge on Washington D.C. in the name of survival and not to sit back as peasant to your own execution. Remember your voice and vote counts. Let Washington hear us as well…. Send your voices, thoughts, concerns and hearts. We will and Yes We CAN!!!!!

don’t you mean who AM I?
Dan, Thank you and appreciate your concern around us the 99ers. As one of the million unemployed AMERICANS who have exhausted all approved benefit and still unemployed since 2008, I continue to hurt to hear our own Congress can stand there and call us “lazy.” I spend every living moment of my life searching for work with one interview. I have a file folder to prove that I have submitted to over 2000 jobs or more across the USA. I am so ashame sometime to be in the USA when our own will help other countries but turn their freaky back on the AMERICANS that help them have those luxury jobs/home/cars. One day this could be them or a family member but do they care, NO. My credit is ruined due to no payments. In threat to lose my vehicle. At least when I was receiving the benefits, I was able to maintain a basic lifestyle, stay within my means and stay in faith that one day I would be working. But Congress decide 99wks is enough when at no fault of my own, jobs are just no longer available in the USA and think we don’t want to work to justify why not to add additional benefits for the 99ers. Do they read, companies are still laying off. The numbers are still not reflecting the truth to what is the real unemployment rate. They need to step off their high horse, go speak with a 99ers to see how this is impacting our lives to be in fear everyday how eventually to be placed on the street and everything that we have worked for can be taken away in less than 24hrs. Never in my life, I thought I would need to depend on these benefits but it’s all that I had. Congress continues to insult the AMERICANS everyday and another insult by a Senator, “we should be drug tested.” I wish President Obama would get a little bit more aggressive and call “Executive Order” and this would be done. There is so much unused emergency Stimulus funds that were approved to help the unemployed until 2012. This is a “emergency”. So simple but yet they continue to debate because they enjoy pissing each other off and attacking each other just because they can’t stand to be right on the same issues. For once, act as old as you are. So petty to go to this extreme to play around with a bill that provides financially support to millions/billions of unemployed AMERICANS. WE NEED ADDITIONAL WEEKS/TIER 5 TO SURVIVE!!!!
November will be here in 4 months
Again, Dan thank you for this forum

The political class are the rich paul forget them and go get your own
Thank you for making your views known Neece Come back and let us know how your doing
This website is a great idea. I kept hearing about the 99ers from the TV Pundits and decided to take a look. Well, I am more like a 144er and counting.
I think it is funny how people decide who it is to blame. I do not blame the government or congress for high unemployment, but instead blame those who interpret our country, as a place where people fled an aristocratic Europe to form a perfect Union of greed and corruption (i.e. corporations). It truly baffles me that big business can charge whatever they want for the benefit of a few and there is no rage, but raise taxes for the benefit of us all and people go berserk!? We’re out of jobs because the “haves” cheat and steal from the “have-nots” – and always have. It’s not our government alone, but it also includes the big wigs at Exxon, BP, AIG, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, etc. …that drove the wagon into the ditch when Reagan, the Bushes and the Clintons turned off the traffic lights. This current administration is trying to correct the corruption amidst a deeply embedded culture of how things use to be. You can’t make changes overnight because it is so embedded, but you can head in the right direction. That’s all we have now, a right direction. There is a “class” war taking place in our country and us 99er’s are the soldiers on the battle field. We are right smack in the middle of a changing government and an aristocratic group, who like things just the way they have been. Businesses have money and they can hire, but they are favoring the fall of America in order to regain power and be the rule maker. That’s their game. To hell with America and all our ideals! We have to remember that the profit makers are not about our country or constitution – only if it means money in their pockets.
While on the battlefield, I carry my skill weapon; working sales, teaching, volunteering, taking one day or part time jobs and even under paid contracts – whatever it takes to get to the next day. I have used my savings and continue to pray that tomorrow will be different.
Change is not easy, but it is the “Engine of Growth”.

Kudos to Ed Schultz on his program on MSNBC for talking about your awesome group and website with such passion.
If it wasn’t for Ed, I would have never found your website.
Thank you Ed Schultz. Thank you 99′ers!
People can’t find a job and blame they government.
Ever hear of personal responsibility?
this is what you get for voting in such fools, not just this one but starting with clinton.
so suffer, take it, stop you crying, and pay the piper: Obama.
Ha ha … ha ha … haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
create what ever group you want. it will do nothing. you are all just crying, boo-hoo.
do you damn homework and teach your kids the damn constitution of the country and don’t veer from it.
otherwise you get what you have and you deserve. so suck it up, stop you little crying websites, and vote out the damn frauds at the local, state, and federal levels.
Then perhaps you may get your country back.
dan – you should set up a site where the 99ers could email congress and the president about us not getting umemployment benefits.
Thanks for that idea David. Representative contact info page may be something we can add. Please be patient. We are handling a high volume of request at this time.
Where to start. I’m 51 years old and similar to Dan I’m not a 99er because I did contract work and therefore didn’t qualify for unemployment.
The day after I finished my BA in 1991 I had to put my new degree and life on hold to help my elderly mother care for my dying father when he went into renal failure in Alabama. A year later I helped them move to Central Florida to be closer to a hospital and went with them believing it would be a better area for me to find work and still help care for my father. Unfortunately I never was able to find full time work in the 17 years there. In late 2006 I had to stop working altogether, dad had died in 98 and mom was having health problems. By myself with no support from family or friends I took care of my mother for the next 14 months or so until her death. I didn’t worry too much about her mortgage at the time because I just figured I would be able to find a job after she died and take it over. Well 2 years later after seeking help from every agency I was referred to and not qualifying for any of the stimulus plans setup I lost our home. Now more approximately 2.5 years after her death and after losing out home and having thousands of dollars in antiques stolen from me I am sitting outside Atlanta, GA trying to hang on. I am 3 weeks away from completing my MBA, which I believed would once again make me employable and have only had 1 interview in the past year. I am no closer to finding a job and am dealing with the age discrimination issue.
I am a single woman trying to save my life after making the mistake of believing that taking care of my parents was the right thing to do. And I don’t know what to do anymore.
rather than play the “blame game” like boo hoo chooses to do, lets look at the hard realities.
We are not a producer nation any more. Everyone shops at Walmart because they have low prices, but remember, nothing is really free. Walmarts low prices come at a cost. you can see for yourself at http://www.walmartwatch.com and http://www.walmartmovie.
buy local, support you local economy, not China.
in the long run, isn’t it better to invest in America, even if it cost more?
to email Obama type “email obama” in google then click on the link “contact the whitehouse”
speaking of walmart…
Um vinny there are places cheaper than walmart and there was this place before walmart..I think it was called Sears. No one protested when sears came to town because their prices aren’t cheap…
So if walmart raised prices how much would your argument hold?
O wait walmart has increased prices this year…
http://www.dailyfinance.com/story/walmart-raises-prices/19587730
We can buy local to a point but there is no fresh fruit in north dakota in january..sometimes we have to import things.
If you can’t bring the mountain to mohammad bring mohammad to the mountain…
if the country has no work why do we still have illegals? why not go overseas for work?
don’t do things that make a long term commitment. No mortgages, no children and no marriages. If companies can move and you can’t then you are screwed.
Mobility is key to life and jobs.
we are screwed. Sears used to pay a living wage. My aunt worked at sears all her life. as for illegals, yes, there IS plenty of work in this country, back-breaking work @ $60 per day. digging holes, landscaping, carrying sheetrock and plywood up 3 flights of stairs in 90° summer heat. No benefits, paid holidays or even paid OT. I used to be in the construction industry, and I would see it all the time. Contractors hiring illegals to do the work no one else wants to do, and for next to nothing. It’s not fair when companies get all kinds of tax incentives, give big salaries to upper magmt. then squeeze low level employees and when they don’t like it, move the company to a more depressed area(in or out of the US)
and start all over again.
more on Walmart…
I TRULY FEEL FOR ALL THOSE OUT OF WORK. THIS WORLD IS A SCARY PLACE CONTROLLED BY THE ENEMY OF GOD AND OF MAN. THE LOVE OF MONEY TRULY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL.THE BANKSTERS CONTROL WHAT COUNTRY THEY WANT TO LEND AND WITHOLD CREDIT TO. THE FEDERAL RESERVE IS THEIR TOOL IN AMERICA.THEIR MOTTO IS THIS ” GIVE US THE CONTROL OF A NATIONS GOLD AND AND WE CARE NOT WHO IS ELECTED AS HEAD OF THAT NATION”. UNTIL AMERICA GAINS INDEPENDENCE FROM THESE CRIMINALS IT WILL NEVER EVER CHANGE. THEY ALSO CONTROL THE MASS MEDIA AND ALL THE TALKING GURUS THEY EMPLOY. BOTH REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRATIC PARTIES ALSO.IT IS AMERICAS TIME TO SUFFER. PHYSICALLY AS A NATION WE ARE IN THEIR CROSSHAIRS.SPIRITUALLY YOU NEED TO REPENT AND RECIEVE JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOUR IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY. BELIEVE ME HE WILL SUSTAIN YOU THROUGH THIS DARK TIME IN OUR HISTORY. REMEMBER SOMETHING THIS LIFE IS TEMPORAL, IT IS ONLY A VAPOR WHICH YOU EXHALE ON A COLD MORNING AND THEN IT IS GONE.
Dan,
I’ve put together a set of tools we can use to contact our members of Congress:
http://helpthe99ers.blogspot.com/p/act.html
The more of us that speak up, the better chance we have.

Thanks Dan for thinking of others. Like alot of people I worked 30 years for one company then 6 1/2 for another company until I was laid off in 2009. I have always worked until now and paid my taxes which alot does go to help the less fortunate. Anyway when I see all these bills being talked over with all the pork in them or the dream act helping non citizens it depresses me. Why don’t they give some heart to fellow Americans. I have managed so far so keep afloat but hard to pay utilities and especially to eat. Where I live you can’t even go to the food bank if unemployment is a certain amount. I water down everything in the house like milk, laudry detergent etc. I am trying to keep up.
Thank you Dan!
I am a 99er in Colorado; my UI benefits ran out in May. I’m a business analyst, out of work for more than 2 years. I have a B.S. in Finance and am now trying to obtain MCTS certification in SQL Server.
The Denver’s Road Home website indicates that according a Denver survey of homeless persons, the most prominent reasons respondents attributed to being homeless are:
Loss of job/unemployment – 35%
Housing costs – 31%
Family break up – 20%
The site also indicates that 60% of the homeless population are families with children, 42% are women, 40% are currently working.
Homelessness is a problem that is growing rapidly among the unemployed workers who have lost everything as a result of this recession. There are tens of thousands of once successful unemployed, middle class professionals in the state and many (nearly 30,000) have already exhausted all federal unemployment compensation (EUC). According to data received from the CDLE, there will be another 71,000 unemployed persons who will run out of benefits in the next few months. This translates into more than 100,000 unemployed workers in Colorado who will exhaust all EUC benefits very soon.
Hi Dan,
I like your attitude, we have to help each other and ourselves.
I’m unemployed in Michigan, not a 99er and never will be one.
Like you I’ve devoted my time to creating a way out of a bad situation. My result was to design a 7 day training plan using mostly free methods to teach anyone willing to work 3 or 4 hours a day how to build an Internet network marketing business from scratch.
Most of the tools needed are free to use, the ones that need to be bought come with either a free trial period or a money back guarantee.
Mike
What I find disturbing is the fact that neither the president nor members of congress will give a reason why they will not institute “Tier 5″?? The only reason I can think of is if they institute another tier of unemployment benefits it will show the rest of the world that the US economy is not doing as well as they are stating in their statements to the news media and would start a possible panic on Wall Street!! Does anyone else have any ideas on why they will not give us Tier 5 when it is so sorely needed?
It says this site doesn’t exist:
